En la memoria del matador Antonio Montes nacido en esta
calle de Pureza el 20-XII-1876 y muerto por un toro en Méjico
a los 30 años de edad, inspirador de romances e inmortal
como el espartero, Joselito o Gitanillo, fue el ídolo de Juan
Belmonte y uno de los grandes diestros de su época.

In the memory of the bullfighter Antonio Montes, born in this
street of Pureza 20-XII-1876, and killed by a bull in Mexico at
the age of 30; to the inspirer of romances as immortal as El
Espartero, Joselito or Gitanillo. He was the idol for Juan
Belmonte and one of the great masters of his time.
