Conocida como la catedral de Triana, comenzó a construirse
en 1266 por orden de Alfonso X. Su construcción se debe a
la curación del monarca de una enfermedad en los ojos
mediante la intervención milagrosa de Santa Ana.
Posiblemente, la placa que está en la puerta del evangelio
sea una transcripción literal de la antigua tablilla que había
en la sacristía que hacía referencia a
dicho origen de su fundación.

The construction of the church known as Triana Cathedral
began in 1266 under the order of Alfonso X. The idea of
building it was determined by a recovery of the king
from a sight disease by virtue of a miraculous
intervention of Saint Ana.
It is possible that the inscription on the Gospel gate is a literal
transcript of the text of an ancient plate that used to be in the
vestry and was believed to explain the origin of
the church foundation.
